Building Catholic Fraternity
We are sons of the Father and sons of our fathers...
We are an organization known as the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus, NBCCC. The National Black Catholic Seminarians Association, NBCSA, a subsidiary of the NBCCC, strives to build a brotherhood of men being formed for a vocation and life lived as a catholic priest, a deacon and/or a religious. We hope to support the spiritual, theological, educational, and ministerial growth of our brother seminarians. Founded in 1968, a diverse group of men came together over forty-three years ago to assist the larger institutional Church to live out its call to be Catholic. Roman Catholic seminarians of color were given a voice in 1968 by this strong father organization that has grown to be a faith-filled group steeped in authentic traditions, with a rich history, and enduring spirit.
We are also in spiritual collaboration with the National Black Sisters Conference (NBSC), the National Association of Black Catholic Deacons (NABCD), the National Association of Black Catholic Administrators (NABCA) and the National Black Catholic Congress. We stand with the People of God and stand on the shoulders of our founding fathers that birthed this organization during the civil rights movement in 1968. We participate in leadership training and mentoring for our seminarians, deacon candidates and religious brothers in their formation process. We are committed to being formed well so as to be able to serve the spiritual needs of all God’s people. Our last official act as a body was to participate in and give service to the Joint Conference and the National Black Catholic Congress XI, both held in Indianapolis, Indiana in July of this year.
